The skin rundown before we delve in; I have normal skin with the tendency to be oily at times. I am extremely adamant about wearing sunscreen as well as removing all traces of make-up before bed. I do not smoke and I drink more water than necessary (it's probably actually an excessive amount). While I do get the occasional breakout I would consider myself to have "nice" skin. I don't get any skincare treatments such as facials done anymore because I live in Vancouver and am going to be poor forever.
New skincare line alert! Bl'eau Beauty is a new Canadian skincare line (set to launch July 15th) with a collection of Glacial Oceanic Clay masks and I was extremely lucky to be able to try them out prior to their launch! With skin that is on the oilier side (especially now that it's HAWT out) I have a love hate relationships with most clay masks. I love how clay masks help limit the excess oil on my skin but the way clay masks harden and need strong friction to remove off my skin is a bit too harsh for my skin, leaving my skin feeling sore. Peeps who have ever used a clay mask, you know what I'm talking about. I call it clay cake face and you look like you're from Westeros and have been infected with grayscale.
I did some research into Glacial Oceanic Clay prior to trying Bl'eau Beauty to make sure it wouldn't be too abrasive on my delicate princess skin. While most clay masks are made with bentonite clay as their main ingredient, Glacial Oceanic Clay is much gentler on the skin. Glacial Oceanic Clay helps detoxify and rehydrate the skin, reduces excess oil and removes dead and dry skin cells.
Their launch includes the introduction of their Organics and Transcend line with different formula for different skincare needs.
The Transcend line includes three masks that have more targeted results. There is an Illuminating Seaweed Clay mask suitable for clarifying, brightening and balancing which I would recommend for dull skin. The Nourishing Spirulina Clay Mask would be ideal for troublesome/red skin because it hydrates, replenishes and calms the skin. If you have more mature skin in need of some renewing and restoring with tightening benefits I would recommend the Revitalizing Algae Clay Mask.
If your budget allows for it, I did like this for multi-masking and used the nourishing mask along my t-zone, the revitalizing on my forehead, and the illuminating on my cheeks. I looked a bit kooky but I did find that this method was the most effective for me. They do over a bundle that saves you $18 when you buy all three which you can use the code PRESALE to get all three for $79.20 (which is over 30% of savings - what can I say, she a thrifty wish who likes to math.) Or order the FREE sample bundle (shipping included) here. You don't need to be good at the maths to know free is a great freaking deal.
Tbh, I prefer this packaging in comparison to that of the Organic Glacial Clay Mask because it is seemingly simpler and more travel friendly. The coloured packaging on each jar also matches the shade of clay mask on the inside showing the attention to detail Bl'eau put into each product. The price point also makes the Transcend collection a bit more approachable when buying skincare online.
Cost: $39 for 80g each ($31.20 plus free shipping if you pre-purchase it on their site now before it launches July 14th with the code PRESALE)
Organic Glacial Clay Mask
To detox, rehydrate & repair. The Organics line currently contains one product which is meant to provide a natural and organic option when it comes to clay masks. Meant to promote skin exfoliation and pore minimization leaving you with radiant skin. Other than the Glacial Oceanic Clay, superstar ingredients include aloe vera leaf juice (packed with Vitamin E to help with soothing) and coconut oil (giving your skin a moisture boost without the oil!)
It applies so smoothly and left a cooling sensation without irrupting my skin. I did find that this mask was also the best one for minimizing skin texture. When I first tried it out I kept waiting for the mask to dry down like traditional clay mask but luckily for my gentle skin it never completely dries down to that clay cake face. Although this is the most expensive one in their entire collection this mask takes the best results from the three Transcend collection and combines them in an all-in-one magic mask.
Cost: $59 for 50g ($47.20 plus free shipping if you pre-purchase it on their site now before it launches July 14th with the code PRESALE)
I liked it! The masks felt super refreshing, especially with temps rising. The fact that it was gentle enough to use daily is a big thumbs up in my books plus the consistency was so much better than I had anticipated. I find often time with clay masks I am fighting with the formula to apply and rinse off evenly. It does not harden down at all and a damp washcloth is more than enough to remove every trace of the mask. For my skin type the Nourishing Spirulina and the Organic Glacial masks were the most effective. It was a nice bonus that all the masks come with a spatula so you don't have to contaminate the entire jar with your grubby fingers (or maybe my fingers are just grubby.)
K. Even if I didn't 100% sell you on this you should still head to their website to order your free mask sample bundle. Legit. For free plus they cover the cost of shipping. This is NOT an affliate link and they do not track how many people I refer with this link, so feel free to just Google "Bl'eau Beauty" instead if you don't believe me. You do you. They don't even make you do that thing where you have to input credit card details! You literally have nothing to lose and you get to try all FOUR masks.
The fine print: I did get gifted all the masks for free prior to launch but all thoughts and opinions are my own. None of the links above are affiliate links meaning I make 0% of sales if you choose to buy something. If you know me in real life and you actually read my blog you best believe the next time you come over we're going to have a masking moment.
Can you please just go and get the freebie sample pack and see for yourself that I wasn't just pulling your leg? Also including right now I think this is the most I've ever put the same link in the same post. BECAUSE FREE.
Also I don't know how to pronounced Bl'eau. Do you think it's like when people say "sacré bleu?" I know some of you reading speak en francais so help a sister out.
